High quality Van Damme SPOFC Classic Instrument cable terminated with a Neutrik Male XLR and a Neutrik phono plug (NYS373-*)
This is an unbalanced cable, where pins 1 and 3 of the XLR connector are connected to the shield/screen of the phono plug. Pin 2 is connected to the tip.
Please note: This cable is now fitted with an NC3MXX XLR.
Neutrik XLR connectors have silver plated contacts. Neutrik phono plugs have gold plated contacts. Van Damme Classic Instrument cable is highly flexible and durable. Its conductors feature a mixture of ultra pure silver plated oxygen free copper (UP SPOFC) and ultra pure oxygen free copper (UP OFC). The benefit of UP SPOFC is that silver is approximately 5% less resistive than copper. In particular, this benefits the conductivity of the high frequencies, reducing attenuation. That is, the "sparkle" that is often lost when using cheaper, inferior cables.
The cross-linked polyethylene used in the conductor insulation was chosen over conventional insulation materials for its low dielectric constant, which is essential in minimising the attenuation of high frequencies. The outer jacket is a PVC/neoprene composite that offers flexibility, even at sub-zero temperatures.
